Scientific achievments

Laboratory of technology of electrochemical productions formally established in 1996, however, many of its research and development received its development at the Department of physical and analytical chemistry of the Kazakh State University.

Laboratory of technology of electrochemical production works on electroplating, aimed at improving technologies for coatings for the jewelry industry: Nickel plating, zinc plating, chrome plating, gilding and silvering. Interesting developments have been made in the field of production of galvanisation the formation of coatings on non-metallic products, which was made copy, also worked with new electrolytes to increase the growth rate of the coating. There were developing of new ways technology metallization of plastics, oxidation of copper, aluminum, Nickel and brass products for decorative purposes (Moiseyevich O.Yu., Galeyeva, A.K., Sholakova A. N.). All this work is usually performed under appropriate agreements with interested companies engaged in the production of jewelry products.
A significant period of scientific activity of the laboratory was devoted to the metallization of polyimide films for printed circuit boards, space mirrors and antennas, was also developed technologies for metallic microcapsules and samozatyagivayuschihsya coatings (Moiseyevich O.Yu., Galeyeva, A. K., Melsitova I. B., Nikolayeva E. S.). These were carried out by the ISTC grant and two grants from NATO, in cooperation with scientists from Marseilles University, Texas A & M University, Moscow pedagogical University and the Technical University, Montpellier. Work on obtaining self healing coatings continue to this day under the grant project MES "the Commercialization of technologies" supported by the world Bank.
Interesting for both practical and fundamental aspects are working on the formation of nanostructures and fractal structures using electrochemical methods for the deposition of metals (target grants RK). So, for example, Nickel and copper was shown the possibility of forming a multilevel fractal structures for use as a matrix of various kinds of electrodes, in particular, for electrodes of electrochemical energy converters (Kamysbayev D. H., Melsitova I. B.).
In hydroelectrically laboratory has focussed on the development of methods of producing metal powders of copper, Nickel and zinc. Were improved electrolyte composition with addition of surface-active substances and tested modes of electrolysis to obtain fine powders (Kobzhanov A. S., Kushnaryov M. C.). As should be noted, not only the technology of obtaining powders of copper and Nickel with a size of several microns, but also the development model of the formation of sludge.
Significant work in the field of electrometallurgy is also dedicated to the electrochemical generation of oxidants in solutions of sulfuric acid used for the process of underground leaching of uranium. This issue was raised JSC NAC "Kazatomprom". Fulfilled the conditions obtaining acid solutions in a flow cell, optimized concentration and electrochemical parameters of the process (the Malchik F., Kalugin S.M.).
The largest share of the work carried out in the laboratory is works devoted to chemical current sources. First of all, this is lithium primary current sources and lithium-ion batteries. Traditionally, much of the work is devoted to the study of processes occurring on the lithium electrode, namely corrosion and properties of surface films formed on the surface of lithium.
Developed the model of the formation of these films and charge moving through them which allows to predict the behaviour of the system during long-term storage (Galeyeva A. K.).
In the field of lithium-ion batteries the work is dedicated to all the three main components of the battery: cathode material, anode material and the solid electrolyte. Developed two new methods for the synthesis of modified Iron(III 11) phosphate which is a material having the desired crystal structure and high discharge characteristics (I. Trusov, Turganuly R., Zivojin Century). Synthesized new solid polymer electrolytes, which are the composites with a conductivity of 5x10-3 Ohm-1 . cm-1 (Nikolaeva E. C.). Development of materials for lithium-ion batteries are held in the framework of grants RK and by the order of JSC NAC "Kazatomprom". In the field of anode materials research for lithium-ion batteries is the study of the processes of intercalation of lithium cations in composite materials based on graphite (Lepehin M. S.) and the fundamental regularities of the process of intercalation, not only from the experimental point of view, but also with the involvement of quantum-chemical calculations.
For Taldykorgan plant of lead acid batteries production corrosion inhibitor for dry-charged lead battery was developed, which allows to replace deficient and expensive inhibitorlike α-oximately acid. In addition we studied the possibility of increasing the stability of the grids of lead batteries by introducing into the electrolyte additives involved in the electrochemical process (Kobzhanov A. S., Sadyrbayev R.)
We started project of the study of the development of electrodes and technology processes and development of their formation for fuel cells. First of all, this is gas diffusion electrodes and catalytic additives for oxygen reduction on them. Another process is developed for determining the oxidant in the reaction or during manufacture, when the concentration of the oxidant is constantly changing. This problem was born under grant MES and tasks of JSC NAC "Kazatomprom" on the synthesis of oxidant in solutions of sulfuric acid in a flow cell electrolyser and has evolved into a broader direction for the analytical determination of oxidants not only on the basis of peroxide compounds, but also on the basis of chlorine, hypochlorite, chlorate, and so on (Kalugina S. M.,Malchik F.). Another work is performed under contracts with the Center for anti-infective drugs (Almaty) for the study of reactions in medicinal preparations based on iodine (Kalugina S. M., Galeyeva A. K.).
Another traditional theme, which deals with the laboratory of technology of electrochemical productions, is the development of new electrodes for carrying out electrochemical processes. In this direction the most important and relevant results for Kazakhstan is the development of modified method of obtaining an oxide-ruthenium electrodes with the addition of new features that extend the service life of the electrode (Lepikhin MS, Davydchenko D.S.). This project was performed in accordance with the need for SCE "Vodokanal" Almaty.
